William Smith planted his first apple tree in Tassie's pristine Huon Valley in 1888. A passionate farmer, he recognised the region's prime combination of high quality soil, fresh water and clean air as holding nothing but great promise for a successful apple orchard.

This all still rings true over 130 years later. Now overseen by Willie's great grandson Andrew, Willie Smith's has rightfully earned its place as one of Australia's preeminent apple cider producers. They're the only cidery to have received the Best in Show Trophy at the Australian Cider Awards four times.

SUSTAINABILITY.

The cidery itself is located at the orchard, meaning barely any distance is covered between harvest and pressing. With their focus on traditional production methods, Willie Smith's made (what was then) a bold move to start farming organically back in 1997. Thanks to Andrew's innovative approach to farming, the entire operation is now fully certified organic, making Willie Smith's the first truly organic cider in Australia.
