Having grown up on a farm in the west of Wales, Nick Segger’s understanding of the land began early. He developed a respect for the earth and for an organic way of farming as his family was one of the largest suppliers of organic produce in the UK.

Inspired after a working holiday on a tiny vineyard in Tuscany in 2001, Nick and his wife Tanya began their search for the idyllic lifestyle. They wanted to combine Nick’s love of agriculture and Tanya’s career in journalism, PR and advertising. They also wanted to find an established vineyard that would allow them to build a brand from scratch.

They found their perfect site in the stunning highlands of Orange in New South Wales. Their serene 24-hectare property sits at 860-900 metres above sea level and enjoys remarkable views of Mount Canobolas. On their property, there’s an orchard, an olive grove and 14.5 hectares of vines that were planted in 2001.

In 2017, they purchased this property and released the 2016 vintage under their Nashdale Lane Wines label. A year later they converted the 70-year-old, character-filled apple shed to a cellar door. Visitors can discover their wines but also experience luxury glamping in “tents” set overlooking the vineyards.

SUSTAINABILITY.

Nick has an intuitive understanding of organic agriculture–it’s part of his DNA. Since purchasing the vineyard, Nick and Tanya have focused on the health of the vineyard, nurturing viticultural practices and continual improvement of the vitality of the soil. They have farmed organically for the past two years and plan to certify when the soil and vine health is completely restored.
